Time spent in the McGregor family kitchen is definitely one to remember as the family serves up mouth-watering, healthy food.

The family prepared sauté salmon, veggie balls, veggie stew, rice with vegetables, callaloo and fruit smoothie, a full yet nutritious treat.

When The STAR arrived at the McGregors' mansion the dinner was already being prepared. The vegetables were already chopped and the salmon already on the stove.

Shema had already prepared her veggie stew, which was a recipe from her mother whom she describes as an excellent chef.

Chino prepared his specialty - fruit smoothie and helped his father Freddie with the cooking as well. Stephen wasn't on hand but had already prepared a salad to go with the meal.

According to Shema, father Freddie McGregor and brother Chino are the real chefs in the family. Freddie, who cooks as often as possible while not on tour, says being in the kitchen is something he enjoys.

"It's easy to cook like the salmon. When your on tour and don't have much time, this is good. As for the veggie stew it has turn cornmeal in it, it's something mi grow wid as a yute. You can have it as a meal or on the side," he said.

As McGregor attended to his salmon, the 'real chef' Chino was busy peeling and chopping up papayas, bananas, honey dew, and pineapples, and preparing the soy milk for his smoothie.

While Shema assisted her father with the stew, the family spoke freely about politics, about the recent win of Barack Obama and the passing of Byron Lee who McGregor described as a good friend.

The family focuses on a healthy lifestyle. Shema is a vegetarian, Chino is a semi-vegetarian and according to Freddie McGregor, he just eats healthy overall.

As father and son laboured in the kitchen, it was obvious that they were clean chefs as the kitchen remained spotless. As the smell filled the house, bystanders soon flocked to the kitchen eager for a taste.

By the end of the meal, the STAR team could easily describe the family dinner as nothing but scrumptious.
