Analee Bernard, Black River
A 13-year-old boy who was accused of being in possession of 50 small packets of crack/cocaine was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 when he appeared in the Black River Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
His 32-year-old mother was also granted bail in the sum of $600,000 and a third accused, Stanley Watson, was also granted bail in the sum of $100,000.
Previously appeared
The trio had previously appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court on October 30 where they pleaded guilty to possession and dealing in cocaine, but on Wednesday when they appeared in Black River they changed their plea to not guilty. They are represented by attorney-at-law Carl Miller.
Reports are that the police were on patrol in Black River on October 29 about 5:30 p.m., when on reaching Brigade Street they saw three persons acting suspiciously. They were searched and the drugs said to have been found in a black plastic bag in the juvenile's hand. Allegations are that information received from the boy, point to his mother giving him the cocaine to sell.
The three are to return to court on December 10.
