Back Pocket set to surge in front

Jimmie, Star Racing Writer

BACK POCKET is well drawn on the stands' side, post position nine, to make all in tomorrow afternoon's Grooms' Association of Jamaica trophy race at 1000 metres straight.

The speedy four-year-old filly finished third and lame behind course specialist DOUBLE BOW on October 8, touched off on the line for third by TWENTY NINE, after chasing from the off in a four-length loss.

Edging down in class, off a three-week lay-up, BACK POCKET, who racked three straight wins at the distance before being beaten by out-of-class DOUBLE BOW, should prove too good for NATIONAL GALLERY and JET SKI D'OR.

NATIONAL GALLERY takes a suspicious drop in class after flopping in his third straight race off an eight-month lay-up.

Trained by Percy Hussey, NATIONAL GALLERY debuted with back-to-back wins as a two-year-old last year October but went missing after December, resurfacing this August unable to cope with his peers, finishing down the track in three races since.

Although he appears sound enough at exercise, NATIONAL GALLERY has been outsped in three races since returning from his lay-up, despite being administered lasix on last, and could leave his backers howling.

JET SKI D'OR is also speedy and should have no problem getting away quickly from post-position one. However, he was beaten by DOUBLE BOW, eight days after BACK POCKET's loss to the speedster, and was not as competitive in a seven-length defeat.

Track Price Plus Pick-6 players should look to RIGGED TO WIN in the second, GREAT SENSATION in the fifth, PRINCE OF PEACE in the sixth, EL PEQUENO in the sixth and DA GLITTERMAN in the ninth as this week's bankers.

RIGGED TO WIN's strong second behind ROMEZ at 1200 metres on October 11 has the Wayne DaCosta filly primed to win at her pet distance of 1100 metres.

She has really come on this season and should once again sweep by rivals inside the final furlong where she will be closing fastest.

GREAT SENSATION closed well for fourth behind FELICIDAD last Saturday among open $180,000 claimers and should put away conditional claimers at 1200 metres.

Azan's PRINCE OF PEACE, bred DEPUTY'S REPORT - VOLCANIC ERUPTION, might have needed a bit more ground on debut last Saturday when fourth behind ST BESS at 1000 metres straight.

EL PEQUENO steps down in class in the seventh to tackle open $180,000 claimers at 1400 metres after finishing third and lame on a $270,000 tag at 2000 metres on October 8 behind ME LLAMO and MARKET BRIDLE.

She has been in the equine pool since that run but should be good enough to beat the bottom of the barrel despite any problems she may have.

Close all bets with DA GLITTERMAN at 1000 metres straight after his fair fourth-place run behind ZULU PRINCE, CAJUN FIDDLER and RISING HURRI-CANE at 1300 metres last week Monday.
