Bomb scare in New Kingston

The Bomb Squad and the Fire Brigade were called to The Towers on Dominica Drive, New Kingston, following a bomb scare yesterday.

According to Emeleo Ebanks, public relations officer of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, the workers were allowed back into the building after they felt that there was nothing threatening.

He said about 10:37 a.m. the York Park Fire Station received a call about a bomb threat at The Towers. Three units from the station, including a search-and-rescue team responded to the call. They also alerted the police's Bomb Squad about the threat.

When the fire personnel arrived at the scene, they immediately evacuated the building and all offices within a 100 feet radius of The Towers to create a safety zone.

Afterwards, the Bomb Squad went in and surveyed the building and about 12:10 p.m. said they found nothing threatening and so the workers were allowed to return inside.
