ARNETT GARDENS and St Georges last night ended the unbeaten runs of Harbour View and champions Portmore United, respectively, cutting down the top two Digicel Premier League teams on their home turfs.

Arnett edged league leaders Harbour View 1-0 off Horace Sharpe's 70th minute penalty at Compound and St Georges rallied from a goal down to outscore second-place Portmore 2-1 at Ferdie Neita Park.

Carlington Smith put champions Portmore ahead in the 30th minute but St Georges, flying high after blanking Meadhaven 2-0 at home on Sunday, rallied with second-half goals from Daniel Shaw in the 73rd and Denroy Dennis in the 83rd.

None of the top three teams came away with full points from their home games, as Waterhouse, who started the afternoon third, were held to a 2-2 draw at Drewsland by Reno.

Kevin Lamey cancelled Gary McIntosh's 25th minute opener with a 68th minute goal and added another five minutes later.

Away draws

However, McIntosh pulled Reno level in the 78th, handing the men from Westmoreland back-to-back away draws after their 0-0 stalemate at Arnett Gardens on Sunday.

In the afternoon's other games, Boys' Town and Tivoli ensured there were smiles all around in west Kingston, registering 2-0 and 3-1 victories over last-place Meadhaven and Rivoli, respectively.

Boys' Town salvaged home pride after Denzil Watson struck in the 34th and 87th minutes, sinking promoted Meadhaven further in the ruck at Collie Smith Drive.

At the Edward Seaga Stadium, Roland Dean booted in a hat-trick to turn back Rivoli, their third straight win, creating a three-way tie on 12 points with Portmore and Boys' Town for second behind Harbour View on 14.

Back-to-back chances

At Harbour View, the homesters staged a tremendous rally in full-time stoppage, creating back-to-back chances after Sharpe's penalty beat Dwayne Miller to his left.

With Arnett down to 10 men and running down the clock following Arjuan Brown's ejection on a second yellow card, a minute from time, Rafeik Thomas forced a tight save from goalie Julian McLeish at his near post off a free-kick from the left flank.

Marcellino Blackburn, Harbour View's hero in their last two games, sent a header over the bar from four yards after Thomas headed on the resulting corner kick from the near post.
