A robbery suspect accused of committing a second offence while on bail was remanded in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Clothes vendor, Douglas Wallace of Glendevon, St James, was charged with robbery with aggravation and unlawful wounding in April stemming from a February incident in which it was alleged that he robbed a custom broker of her handbag containing more than $20,000 and a wedding ring valued at $21,000.
The complainant was injured when her handbag was cut from her shoulder.
Wallace is scheduled for sentencing in relation to this incident on November 12, as the court awaits copies of his police record and a social enquiry report. Wallace has insisted he is not guilty of the second offence and is awaiting the completion of the file for a trial date to be set.
Incarceration is not new to Wallace as he has served prison time for larceny from the person and was released over two years ago.
Allegations are that on February 11, the complainant was walking up a flight of stairs of a building at Market Street, Montego Bay, after leaving a bank on the same street, when two men approached her. One of the men cut the bag from the complainant's arm.
The men escaped with the bag containing more than $20,000, a gold wedding band and other personal effects. The complainant did not recognise her assailants but realised that she had been cut during the attack.
The accused was apprehended for another incident in April and was pointed out by someone who allegedly witnessed the robbery in February.
