Equipped with high-powered machinery, the Americans are coming to silence the Jamaicans at the Dover Heroes Day race meet.
The Cable and Wireless Broadband-sponsored event has been dubbed the 'Heroes of Speed' race meet. It will get under way on Monday, October 20. Qualifying for pole position begins at 8:30 a.m., while the first event begins two hours later.
The highly ranked Darren Luck and teenage sensation Chad Hermann will represent the Americans in the motorcycle events which promise to be very exciting.
"They are both top-class riders," said Stefan Chin, Jamaica's leading rider.
According to Chin, the Americans are coming with two bikes that are more powerful than the bikes they race at Dover.
BIG RACE
"It's going to be big race because we will not roll over and die. I am looking forward to the excitement. I know what I am going up against and I am just hoping to get the support from other guys," commented Chin.
Luck is no stranger to the Dover circuit. He was here about five years ago, establishing a new lap record of 1:23.3 seconds. At that time, he erased the previous record of 1:23.6, set by Rory Jardine.
Reports are that Luck, who is from Florida, is very speedy. His colleague Hermann, who originates from North Carolina, is among the best in his home state. Chin is hoping to get support from teammates Harlequin Rodney and Adrian Blake, who recently came out of retirement.
CLASHES
Meanwhile ,clashes among rival drivers will continue. Peter Rae, Doug Gore, Lisa-Bowman Lee, Rohan Clarke, David Summerbell, Gary Williams, Teddy Burton, Guy Frazer and Peter 'Bull' Thompson, are expected to do well in their respective classes.
With seven of the eight class championships and overall titles still open, fans can expect a fitting climax to what has been a record year, one marked by some of the keenest class battles.
