Ram thieves get jail time

Two men who were last week arrested and charged with larceny after they were caught with two ram goats valued at over $45,000 were remanded in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

Ainsley Huntley Rhoden and Wayne Smith, both of Red Hills district, Lacovia, St Elizabeth, pleaded guilty with explanation before by Resident Magistrate Stanley Clarke. They are scheduled to return to court on November 4 for sentencing.

Reports are that on October 2, the owners of the goats reported the animals missing to the Lacovia police and on October 3, the two men, one of whom was the driver of a motor car, were caught with the goats in the trunk of the car.

They were then arrested and charged by the police and brought before the court. The men, while answering question posed by RM Clarke, gave conflicting stories and the RM told them they were lying and remanded them.
