Woman arrested for assaulting teacher

An October 24 mention date was set for a woman accused of assaulting a teacher with an umbrella.

The Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court heard that the teacher was attacked for placing her child to sit at the back of the classroom during class hours.

The accused woman, Claudia Jackson, was arrested and charged with assault following the October 1 incident at the Rollington Town Primary School.

Allegations are that the complainant, had placed Jackson's child to sit at the back of the class during school as she was a fast learner, and had moved slower students to the front.

On the day of the incident however, Jackson showed up at the school and was not pleased that her daughter was placed at the back of the class. It is reported that a dispute developed between Jackson and the teacher, during which the accused woman used an umbrella to hit the complainant.

A report was made to the police and Jackson was picked up and brought before the court to answer to the charge.
