Police follow strong leads in bartender's murder

The police in Westmoreland say they are following strong leads in the robbery and murder of a bartender in Little London in the parish recently.

This, after 25-year-old Demerse Rose of Top Road in the parish, was robbed and fatally shot by gunmen who also robbed his father..

Police reports are that about 3 a.m., armed men posing as policemen forced their way into Rose's house and demanded money.

He reportedly gave them $420,000 before his father, who was also at the house, intervened and was then robbed of $25,000.

Further reports are that the men dragged Rose outside and demanded more money.

Once again his father intervened and begged for his son's life.

Rose tried to escape but the men opened fire hitting him four times before escaping in a white Toyota Corolla motorcar.

Rose was pronounced dead at hospital

Investigators say that on Monday, Rose picked up a cheque valued at about $450,000 from a hotel to which he was once employed before being laid off recently.
