Nikki Z - File
Radio disc jockEY Nikki Z has returned to morning radio after the end of a three week suspension from ZIP 103 FM.
She was suspended September 13 after a curse word was accidentally played during her set on radio. Although THE STAR was unable to get a comment from the radio host, as her cellphone rang without answer, she has been heard in her morning time slot since Monday.
Back at work
D'Adra Williams, programme manager at ZIP 103 FM, confirmed that the disc jockey was back at work, but said she could not confirm her status with the station. "All I can say at this time is that she's back at work and I don't expect that to change," she said.
When THE STAR asked if Nikki Z would remain in the morning slot Williams said, "All the jocks know that we reserve the right to move them around from time to time. We may take a decision to move a jock to a different slot depending on different factors."
Very apologetic
When she was suspended, Nikki Z was very apologetic about what had happened. She said then in an interview carried in THE STAR, "To me there's nothing really to talk about ... no one's more sorry about what happened than me, it's unfortunate that it happened to me ... I did listen to it (the song) before, a word slipped me and I just didn't hear it. I let down my boss and he had to do what he had to do."
Nikki Z has been hosting her popular show, which airs Monday-Friday 6 a.m. - 10 a.m., for the last two and a half years. This was her first suspension.
