The Star of the Month, Busy Signal, was one of the performers who delivered well at the recently concluded Digicel Rising Stars competition finals at Mas Camp, on Oxford Road, last Friday night.

During the competition, which lasted over three months, it was the most talk-about television show. THE STAR caught up with Busy Signal at Mas Camp and asked him his views on the outcome of the talent show.

Vibrant crowd

After performing hits such as Hey Girl and Cool It Baby in front of the very vibrant crowd, Busy Signal shared his thoughts on the season of the 2008 Digicel Rising Stars competition.

"It great, great ... and at least a woman win. For the first time, a woman take home the competition and the youths them have great talents, strong talents, God know."

"I wouldn't mind if I do a song with one of them. Once them serious and creative and make them own music and deliver, me ready to work with one of them," he said.

Although Busy Signal was recovering from a lively performance, that saw him singing his break-through song Step Out, he used the opportunity to give advice to those who hadn't won.

"All the number 19 and 500, me a say this to you, don't stop. Continue to do music, cause music is life. It may not happen the time when you want it; I'm sure that everybody who entered wanted to win, but not everybody could be a winner at the same time, but you are a winner yourself. Just don't stop," he said.

He also said, though Kahlil was a very talented group, Cameal's victory was a deserved one given her standout performances throughout the season.

Nobody is a loser

"Definitely, she's talented - not saying the youths weren't talented. But, she has a very strong voice. Yeah, the youths seemed to be the favourite, but you done know how the vote thing go, and as what I said earlier, nobody is a loser," he added.

Although he was on tour for the greater part of the Rising Stars season, Busy said the little he saw was enough to convince him that the organisers did an excellent job at marketing the contestants.

"Me like how the programme organise. The result shows, the live performances, you see everything set, and the press was excellent. Yeah man, Digicel organise. A the same Mas Camp this what people don't like, and see it, look how many turn out," Busy observed.

"Digicel know how to put it together. Rising Stars know how to put it together. This is music and whatever work for an artiste, if you can show your talent by singing a song, that is a good thing, and this is one way to do it," he said.

Along with Busy Signal, other tops acts in the music industry performed at the final concert - artistes like Marcia Griffiths, Elephant Man, L.U.S.T, Ce'Cile and a core of former Rising Stars contestants.
