A medical doctor, who was charged with malicious destruction of property and assault occasioning bodily harm, was freed in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
He is Dr Paul Robinson, who practises in Spanish Town.
The medical practitioner was freed after it was revealed that the first medical certificate tendered to the court had disappeared and the second one did not show that the complainant suffered any injuries in the alleged incident. As a result, RM Marcia Dunbar-Gray told the doctor he was free to go.
The complainant gave evidence that in January 2006, she was employed to work as a practical nurse with the doctor. During a disagreement, he allegedly punched her and squeezed her hand. A report was made, and he was charged by the police. He maintained his innocence on his numerous court appearances prior to the dismissal of the case. He was represented by attorney-at-law Earl DeLisser.
