PASSAGEFORT United rallied from a sizeable decefit at half-time to beat Westchester United 300-279 in the inaugural Colin Fagan domino final for Portmore teams at Ken's Wildflower, Port Henderson Road, last Sunday.
In the process, Passagefort went through the season unbeaten. The $50,000 winner's prize and trophy were presented to the winning captain, Linval Thompson, by the Member of Parliament for South East St Catherine, Colin Fagan.
smooth sailing
Westchester United actually outplayed Passagefort in the first half to lead by all of 27 points (152-125) at half-time. After the interval, Passagefort came into their own, chipping away at the lead and eventually going by their opponents in the last 60 points. Thereafter, it was smooth sailing as they moved away to win by 21 points
Westchester secured the $25,000 cash prize for second. Ken's Wildflower picked up $10,000 for third and Garveymeade $5,000 for fourth.
Fagan said he was pleased with the competition and pledged his continued support which, he promised, would be bigger and better
The competition was organised by the president of the Jamaica Domino Federation, Gerald Stephens, who was happy with its progress.
Stephens disclosed that the flagship competition, the Portmore/St. Catherine domino league, will be launched on Sunday, November 2, and will commence on November 9. He said registration of teams will start on October 11 and end October 25.
