Despite losing their final preliminary round game to Port Royal Bulls 66-51 in a replayed fixture Tuesday night, Portmore Flames still advanced to the KFC National Basketball League second round.
The Flames, with a 11-11 record, will finish either sixth or seventh in the rankings, while Port Royal Bulls with a 16-5 record (one match outstanding) will advance as the second seed behind unbeaten Urban Knights on 21-0.
Depending on the result of a few key games, Flames should meet either the Bulls or third- seed Tivoli Wizards with a 14-8 record.
Last Sunday, Flames were in winning form in front of their home fans, defeating Majesty Gardens 76-70 through a team high 23 points from Adrian Coote, while Kenardo Smith offered good support with 21. Majesty Gardens Kemar McLeish led all scorers with 45 points, while Boldan Todd added 19 points.
