Richard Edite scored a first-half double to guide Calabar to an easy 4-0 victory over St Mary's College in the Inter-Secondary Schools Ass-ociation Pepsi/ Digicel Manning Cup competition yesterday.
Marlon Thompson and Richard Lewis were the other goalscorers for Calabar. Alrick Clarke, coach of Calabar, said he was pleased with his team's effort.
"I am very satisfied with our performance because we didn't want to overwork our players, knowing that we have two crucial matches coming up next week," said Clarke.
Calabar now lead Group B with 13 points followed by Waterford (11), Ascot (seven) and Pembroke Hall (six).
In the day's other game, Tivoli Gardens, led by a hat-trick from Clifton Francis, whipped Tarrant High 5-0 at Jacisera Park.
Tivoli Gardens took the lead after six minutes when Andre Fearon outsprinted two defenders then calmly slotted the ball home to the right of goalkeeper Bradley Morris.
André Aiken then doubled his team's lead in the 33rd minute from the penalty spot, this after Francis was brought down inside the area by Morris.
Francis then got his hat-trick, scoring in the in the 39th, 82nd and 89th minutes, the last coming from the penalty spot.
