JAMAICA'S female sprint stars who swept the medals in the 100 metres at the 2008 Beijing Olympics are set to receive keys to new Suzuki motor cars.
In a release yesterday, local dealers Stewart's Auto Sales said the athletes will each receive one of the snazzy, 125-horsepower Suzuki Swift Sport cars.
Gold medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser will be presented with a gold-coloured Swift Sport, and silver medallists Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson, the joint silver medallists, will be presented with its silver-toned counterpart.
The total value of the three vehicles would normally be just under $6.88 million but the Government has agreed to a duty concession which would reduce the cost of each. However, the value of the gift has been enhanced by the fact that Stewart's is offering three years of scheduled service for the vehicles and ICWI has agreed to partner with Stewart's to provide complimentary comprehensive insurance coverage for one year for each vehicle.
