The Montego Bay police in St James yesterday seized three illegal weapons and arrested six men in connection with the seizure during a special operation at North Gully in the parish.
Police reports are that between 11 a.m. and midday, an operation was carried out in the community.
During the exercise, a premises was searched and the three illegal guns, a Taurus 9mm pistol, a Lorcin 9mm pistol and a Taurus .38 revolver, along with 28 rounds of ammunition, were seized.
Three of the six men who were arrested were charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
The police also reported that one of the firearms seized was stolen from a security guard who was murdered at Williams Street in the parish on August 17.
Meanwhile, the names of the men are being withheld pending an identification parade in connection with several crimes committed in the area, including Wednesday's daylight murder of Jermaine Samuels and his step-son, Tajane Malcolm. An 18-year-old girl was shot and injured in that incident.
