The changes in oral tradition

Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

Is it just me or is it that more and more persons are becoming comfortable with speaking on the topic of oral sex.

As far as I can remember, I can recall cases in which persons normally expressed their disgust at the act.

Now, it seems that bitterness has turned into understanding.

In all fairness, though I'm not a 'defender' of it, and despite the taboo that was once placed on oral sex, indulging in the act is not recorded in our law books as a crime.

Recently, I was at a bar, and the topic came up. Amusingly, my acquaintances, who all happened to be 35 years of age and older, brought up the issue of a newspaper article which served to tell the side of a Jamaican actor who was seen on a video clip pleasing a woman by way of oral sex.

Of course, the oh, so, curvy bartender was dragged in to the mix.

"Yu si how you sexy, I woulda gi yu a Treva special," one of my acquaintances told her, to which she replied, "Me nuh want dat 'cause it naw go mek me sweat."

At that point, the other five colleagues joined in and continued to tackle the bartender.

Creative ways

"Weh yu mean yu naw go sweat, yu neva get it di right way yet then," one said, while the others found creative ways of telling her of their 'hungry' feelings.

At that point, all I could do was continue imbibing on my Guinness and listen because where that is concerned I have no experience and plan to have none.

Anyway, as they continued, I remembered that a few years ago, these were the same men who who had deemed oral sex as nasty.

Upon reminding them, one said "So wah, a di in ting. you a likkle bway now but yu soon know weh we a talk bout ... wait till yu start get bun from yu lady."

Of course, I disagreed and laughed so hard that I got an immediate headache.

In the end, I realised that people change, and so do the words and feelings they express.

As such, the next time you think you are opposed to any action or thought or whatever it may be, think about it first, or it may just come back to haunt you.
