Financial crisis and economic crunch

Miss Kitty, Contributor

The financial crisis and economic crunch now gripping the United States of America (USA) and trickling across the world left many concerned, worried and perturbed.

The USA, which is to be con-sidered as the land of milk and honey, has now been transformed and reduced to the land of bills and bail-outs. With the collapse of the Unregulated Financial Organi-sations (UFO) like Olint, Cash Plus and Worldwise, everybody a feel it and it's a bad dream that we cannot wake up from.

Economic meltdown

Some people may think that the economic meltdown is far re-moved from their reality. Well, that is far from the truth. When institutions like Cash Plus, Olint and Worldwise crumble, the lives of many are adversely affected.

Privacy of their homes

I know of some horror stories weh big man a fi a bawl like baby cause im lose im house, and nuff ooman wid unpaid loans hanging over their heads have to resort to the world's oldest profession, in the privacy of their homes, to literally make ends meet.

Financial schemes

It's almost like every 'weh yuh tun, macka juk yuh', because many went into financial schemes not just for the big returns, but with the hope and vision of bettering their lives and that of their families, 'suh dat dem pick-ney nuh affi cum wuk an' live hand to 'mout' like dem!'

Yet when you put your money in the traditional banking sector, the little that you do get on it is an insult too small to mention. And it works back down to a situation of damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Big superpower

When the big superpower America, wey fi yuh get a visa to go deh is like yuh a apply fi go a heaven, can be brought to its knees, and in this fashion, which is unprecedented in its history, one haffi a tink an' a wonda if these are the last days.

God's words

The Bible speaks of unpredicted deeds happening and, as vulnerable human beings, we watch and try to fix the situation, but some persons have chalked it up to God's words coming to pass and taking effect.

This maybe oh so true, but in the meantime, wha wi a go do? This may sound cliché, but we seriously have to get down on our knees and start to involve God more in a de ting cause, at the end of the day, Him run tings.

World crisis at present

The prophetic words in the song Handwritings on The Wall, by Dennis Brown, are testimony to the world crisis at present. Is like Dennis Brown did know wat ago gwaan. It is important that we all take stock of the world hap-penings so that we are not left entirely unprepared. We need to draw closer to God and pray for His intervention. We have to hope for the best, but expect the worse, because, to how things set, any number can play.
