A Portmore welder caught travelling on a passport bearing someone else's name, was fined $30,000 for his illegal act.
Keith Reid pleaded guilty to forgery and uttering forged documents when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
It is alleged that Reid went to the Norman Manley International Airport where he tried to board a flight out of the island using a passport bearing the name Dwight Dixon.
He allegedly presented it to an immigration officer at the airport, who detected the fraud and called the police, who arrested and charged Reid.
In answering questions from Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown about where he got the passport, Reid said he got it from someone. He was then fined $15,000 or three months each for forgery and uttering forged documents.
