A judge presiding in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, said further investigations will have to be done in a case of extortion before the court, in which a Portmore man was allegedly given more than $1 million to leave a woman alone.
Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Greene told investigating officer Constable Aneita West-Grant, that the court is not sure that extortion would be the appropriate charge against the accused man, Kevin Thompson.
The RM made the observation when the matter came up for mention on Wednesday. She postponed the case and ordered that it be brought back to court on October 17.

The court heard that between March and November 2007, Thompson was allegedly paid the money by the complainant. She told the court then, that she gave him the money out of fear, for him to stop making advances on her and for him to leave her alone. She said she was even threatened on occasions when she spurned the accused man's attempts to be intimate with her.
Thompson, in his defence, said that he had a relationship with the complainant.
The police were called in after the woman allegedly got fed-up of the constant demand for money. Following investigations Thompson, 30, was taken into custody and charged with extortion.
