At least one pastor is urging students not to fall for the many evils which might confront them as they seek to pursue their education.
"Young girls. I am begging you not to get involved in evil practices, such as 'no panty day'.
"Put on your panties, pull up your tights and go to school and learn your lessons," said the Reverend Antonio Mitchell, under the anointing of the Holy Ghost and to loud shouts of amen from the congregation.
sexual activities
The Reverend Mitchell was addressing a special service at the Shingle Hut New Testament Church of God in Clarendon recently. The service was held to mark the start of the new academic year for students.
The Reverend Mitchell said young girls should not have time to entertain such practices and should not be indulging in sexual activities. He said such acts could result in them becoming pregnant, and having to resort to abortions.
He said when students or anyone aborted pregnancies, they were committing murder. He said they should be prepared to face the consequences on Judge-ment Day.
The Reverend Mitchell also called for taxi operators to desist from playing lewd music and showing pornographic movies in their vehicles while transporting students and other passengers.
He also called for a ban to be placed on persons who continued to write and sing lewd lyrics. Mitchell added that taxi operators who continued to play lewd music, in the earshot of students in particular, should also be banned and taken out of the transportation business, as they were confusing the minds of Jamaican children.
