Dear Pastor,
I have been living in New York for two years. I was in a relation-ship for eleven years with a taxi driver.
My problem is because of the great distance between us it is hard to trust him. He has cheated on me before. We planning to get married, but it is going to take some time for me to file for him.
Do you think it is worth the wait?
S.D., New York, USA
Dear S.D.,
If you have forgiven this man and you genuinely love him, you may marry him. You would have to decide whether you can deal with the thought that he is having another woman while you are away.
Some men cannot stay very long without having sex. So there is always the possibility that he may have another woman on the side-so to speak, while his papers are being filed. Please do not misunderstand me. I am not sanctioning that behaviour. I am simply stating a fact.
You should also speak to your heart. Can you go without having a man in your life, or would you have to come to Jamaica very often to visit him and to be comforted by him? Let me hasten to say that some long distance relationships have worked, but it takes dedi-cation and love for each other.
Pastor
