The recent heavy rains caused a conflict between a landlady, her two granddaughters and her tenant.
The tenant, Yvette Johnson, and the granddaughters, Oniefe Robinson and Alicia Evans, all appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday to answer a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.
Allegations are that Johnson was staying at a house that her boyfriend rented from Ms. Betty, the landlady. During the recent heavy rains, most of her belongings got soaked due to a leaky roof.
For this reason, she told Ms Betty of her dilemma. "Your Honour, mi tell har how mi clothes dem get wet up and even my daughter's test papers wet. She said okay and then, to my surprise, later in the evening, her two granddaughters apparently heard that I spoke to her, and they came and beat me up," she said.
Negligence blamed
She added that she had told the landlady that the house needed to be repaired and it was because of negligence why the matter had to reach the court.
Johnson added that before going to court, the landlady had repaired the house and the problem had been solved.
When Senior Resident Magis-trate Glen Brown spoke on the matter, he said: "You don't have to behave like hooligans. You must set good examples for your granddaughters. It is always easier to sit and sort out the problem."
A no-order was made as all parties involved in the matter were told to shake hands and not to come before the court again.
