The Guinness Sounds of Greatness competition will be invading Cambridge Square, St James, on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Judging from the success of the first face-off in Portmore on September 13, Cambridge is expected to receive a musical treat with some of the best sound systems in the industry vying for the title of best competitive sound in Jamaica.
Four contestants
The free event will see four contestants facing off for the two remaining spots in the semi-final round. Bass Odyssey is set to take on Body Guard and Swatch International will battle Pieces in what is expected to be a fierce clash.
Cash prizes
Patrons can get in on the action with the opportunity to win cash prizes of $2,000 and $5,000 during the competition, to be hosted by Elva. Additionally, one lucky Guinness drinker has the chance to win a Sony entertainment system. The top sound systems of the night will walk away with $130,000 each, and join the previous winners, Rebel T and Black Kat, in the semi-final round, where they will battle for a place in the final and a shot at the grand prize of a quarter-million dollars.
The semi-final round is set to kick off on October 19 in Highgate, St Mary, and on October 25 in Wakefield, Trelawny. Two sound systems will battle each other at each location.
On November 1, the two successful contestants coming out of the semi-final rounds will do battle at the Kingston Waterfront. The winners of each round of the competition are determined by crowd applause and judges' input.
