GIDDY UP

Dear Pastor,

I am a 23-year old student of Jamaican descent who lives in the United States. I am a homosexual and I am very comfortable with my sexuality. I am saddened by the way Jamaicans treat others based on their sexuality. I have a boyfriend of Kenyan descent who lives in Amsterdam and I love him with all of my heart. We are both ambitious people and we are also very close to getting our degrees. He wants to do business and I will be attending law school. We are engaged and when we get married we will live together in Amsterdam. We will adopt a needy child; now isn't that a decent human trait?

Please, grow up!

My love for my boyfriend and his love for me should not be the decision of other individuals. Jamaicans, please, grow up! Many men living there are gays in denial. We are humans and deserve the right to life and not to be murdered. We have the right to be protected like any other citizen. I love Jamaica and I would like to come back home some day. I wish and dream that Jamaicans will change their barbaric views of our sexuality.

J.W., USA

Dear J. W.,

You say that you are a homosexual and you are comfortable with your sexuality. No one should fight you over the lifestyle you have chosen to live.

However, you do not have the right to demand that the Jamaican people accept your lifestyle. You are very out of order to be calling on Jamaicans to grow up. it is not barbaric for anybody to say that he/she is against homosexual behaviour or gay marriage.

NO PUBLIC FLIRTING

No homosexual should be physically or verbally abused; however, no homosexual should behave unseemingly and flirt with each other in public and not expect to stir the wrath of the Jamaican people.

Homosexuals should not behave as if they don't care. They should remember that the majority of the people do not support men having sex with men and women having sex with women. They know that the Bible condemns such a lifestyle, and they believe the Bible.
