Strong turnout for Iceberg's birthday bash

Roxroy McLean, Star Intern

With a strong female presence, and A-class performances, the birthday bash for Stone Love's top selector Iceberg ended in fine style.

The event, held Wednesday at Stone Love's headquaters on Burlington Avenue, St Andrew, saw the venue packed with energetic patrons and some popular dancehall personalities.

The women grabbed all the attention. Throughout the night, they received flattering comments from the men whenever they ventured pass, some of them wearing outrageously short shorts and tight-fitting dresses.

Some lively performances by top selectors, such as Richie Feelings, Foota Hype and Kurt Riley, added to the successful outcome of the party.

Playing in front of a very responsive audience, DJ Kurt Riley started off the proceedings and immediately directed the crowd into a party frenzy with hits from dancehall's newest stars. Hit songs from well-known dancehall artistes, such as Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer and Mavado, also had the patrons dancing non-stop throughout the party.

Man of the moment, Iceberg, took over duties at the turntables following Riley and was very impressive.

"Right now ... me just a say big up to every entertainer, every personnel, yeah a my party ... and a Weddy Weddy dis, but it is going to be different," Iceberg said.

He then delivered a fantastic birthday performance, spinning tunes for both the men and women.

Keyshia Cole's I Remember and Heaven Sent hit with the audience, which sang along as the songs were played.

The mood changed quickly into dancehall, and Mavado's I'm So Special, and Bounty Killer's Gal Hunting triggered uproars from the crowd.

The event was well supported, as top dancehall artistes - Mavado, Demarco, Gyptian, Mr. Easy, Voicemail and Harry Toddler, were spotted among the patrons.
