A huge turnout, top performances, and a vibrant atmosphere were some of the elements which made the welcome home party for sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser an exciting one.
Inspiring duo Bugle and Serani started what promised to be a stellar event, and their performance delivered on that promise.
"All the Waterhouse people them who know about troubles let me see your hands," Bugle said to a responsive audience.
"All who love Shelly... say 'Shelly'," he continued after spitting the lyrics to his hit single Journeys. Serani jumped into the act, with his hits, Hypocrites, Don't Worry Mamma, and She Loves Me to end a good set.
When selector Egbert from sound system Cornerstone, which provided the early juggling, announced that Tony Matterhorn was in the house, an immediate uproar was made by the women in the crowd.
His entrance was met by ladies who were eager to grab the self-proclaimed 'Man From Mars', while he made his way through the thick crowd. Matterhorn also delivered a fantastic performance.
The patrons, who were clad in the national colours of black, green, and gold danced non-stop to Matterhorn's selection of music, which included hits from dancehall's top artistes such as Beenie Man, Mavado, Vybz Kartel, and Busy Signal.
Flashing lights
Kiprich and Mr Easy proved easy targets for some women who insisted that they dance with them following the deejays' performance.
The show almost suffered major disappointment with flashing lights signalling the approach of the police and the impending end of the party.
Luckily the women had something else in mind for the lawmen.
The lawmen, were given every reason not to shut off the dance, which seemed their intention. Instead, they shifted their focus to rendering services to the rambunctious women.
One policeman, who was clearly enjoying himself, lifted a female patron and carried her waist high around the dance floor. He then placed the woman parallel to the ground on one of the sound boxes.
The policeman followed the instructions detailed in Bragga's Dagga Dat, and delivered the requisite '100 stab' of daggering.
The party went into a dance segment, and the dancers used the opportunity to show off their new moves, inspired by the athletes who performed at the recently concluded Beijing Olympics, in China.
