Immediate attention for Spring Bank

Arthur Green, Star Writer

St Thomas

Residents of Spring Bank in the hills of St Thomas are to get relief as the St Thomas Parish Council has given approval for work to commence on re-routing the main road which runs through the community.

This has become necessary following the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Gustav. The Spring Bank community was one of the areas Opposition leader Portia Simpson Miller said should have been declared a disaster zone.

Although Prime Minister Bruce Golding decided not to go that route, he was convinced that the Spring Bank area needed urgent attention. According to Secretary Manager of the St Thomas Parish Council, Clinton Gordon, some $20 million has been allocated for work to be carried out, starting immediately.
