WAYNE DACOSTA's GOOD COMPANY should outfinish PRIME MINISTER in tomorrow's 1700-metre second race for overnight allowance runners after narrowly failing to win his last two races.
The eight-year-old gelding bounced back to form with two battling losses, caught and beaten a length by AD INFINITUM at 2000 metres on July 26, and a fast-finishing third, by three-quarter length, to DR SOCRATES and stablemate LIKKLE BIT at a mile on August 6.
PRIME MINISTER did get the better of GOOD COMPANY in back-to-back races in June, finishing second to AITCHEMESBEAGLE and SLOGAN.
However, GOOD COMPANY was performing below his best then whereas PRIME MINISTER, fresh up in class, was cherry ripe and running his heart out.
GOOD COMPANY has since returned to his old consistent self, featuring in driving finishes, especially against AD INFINITUM who went up in class to beat stakes company.
Both horses finished close to LIKKLE BIT in recent races. PRIME MINISTER failed by a neck to nab the DaCosta runner at 1500 metres and GOOD COMPANY finishing third to DR SOCRATES and his stablemate at a mile.
However, GOOD COMPANY has more pace than PRIME MINISTER and with not much speed in the event to keep him honest long enough, champion jockey Omar Walker should start slipping the field from the three-pole.
Dane Nelson is expected to produce PRIME MINISTER with his usual late kick but GOOD COMPANY is an old pro, who has good battling qualities, and should prove too tough for his younger rival, who will be too used-up to overhaul him in the rush for the wire.
Whereas Walker dominated Wednesday with five wins, Nelson should come into his own with a three-timer tomorrow - MEDICAL ACCOUNT in the third, I'M MAGIC in the fifth and SAMMY OH SO in the eighth for the Violet Armond Memorial over a mile.
MEDICAL ACCOUNT is down in class among $180,000 claimers after getting involved in a needless speed duel with SOUND OF SPEED at 1400 metres and finishing down the track on a $220,000 tag.
I'M MAGIC should use her speed to get the better of GAMBOA in the fifth event at 1000 metres straight to beat the roan gelding, who has not been training on the track.
SAMMY OH SO is back down in class on a $270,000 tag after being claimed for $295,000. A trip up in class on a $420,000 tag had the six-year-old American-bred finishing last of six runners.
However, he has been timely prepared for his return and should use his speed to get away from BORN FIGHTER.
Walker should boot home at least a double, GOOD COMPANY and RIGGED TO WIN, both for DaCosta.
RIGGED TO WIN should drop on rivals like a ton of bricks in the fourth at 1100 metres as the pace upfront should be hot but brief enough to come back to DaCosta's filly.
