Real Name: Shawna McKenzie

Birthdate: May 22

Which High School did you attend?

Boyd Anderson in Fort Lauderdale.

How did you get started in the business?

I was in a four-girl group back in Fort Lauderdale, then I left to open up an Internet café in Jamaica because I felt like music was not for me in America, it was all about sex and I don't think that you need to be naked to sell music. Music should instead come from within. Then a friend of mine introduced to a friend at Fifth Element, who asked me to do a couple songs and a show for Richie Spice in LA, after that I decided to once again continue music after finding out that I could be myself.

What has been your greatest challenge in the business yet? Well, it's full of challenges, the business always has challenges, whether it be to do a show or getting your work together.

What have you been up to lately?

Well, right now, have a show in Washington, DC, St Kitts, Bahamas and a couple other Caribbean and American shows. I'm also focusing on my book, which is in stores and merchandises.

Do you look up to any specific artiste?

Yeah, mi did love Sizzla in him 'Black Woman And Child' days, Marcia Griffiths, Bob Marley, Capleton and Richie Spice for his humbleness. Internationally, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder and Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley.

Are you happy with the way things are going for your career right now?

So far can't complain, very happy and glad for support I've been getting since 2006 when I released my first single, all the way up to the new album which has been getting a lot of good feedbacks.

Anything you'd like to change about it?

No, if I could do it all over again, I would, because everything I've experienced has made me who I am today.

What are your future plans?

To make Free Mind Music the best records. I've also learned to work hard every day and accept everything the most high brings my way, to stay positive and keep working hard on everything I do.

Do you have any advice for young artistes coming up?

Know yourself and what you want, where you want to be and be focused. For the females, keep yuh legs closed, believe in the Most High, stay focused and believe in yuhself.
