A 65-year-old man, who allegedly raped a woman of the same age, had his $80,000 bail extended until January 27 when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The accused, who is from St Catherine, pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape, abduction and assault occasioning bodily harm.
Allegations are that in late August, the accused got jealous after he heard that the 65-year-old woman, who is reportedly his fiancée, was planning to end their relationship as one of her boyfriends was returning from abroad.
He reportedly went to her house, abducted her, took her to his house and assaulted her. She was released the following morning. It is further alleged that the accused went back to the complainant's house, broke down her door and assaulted her again.
The woman reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested.
When the case came up for mention before RM Lorna Errar, the investigating officer asked the court to set an extended date, as he was going abroad on vacation. This was granted and the man's bail extended.
