September 23 was set as the sentence date for 24-year-old Damion Walters in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, when he appeared to answer to the charge yesterday.
Walters is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
Allegations are that Walters and the complainant, Errol Leslie, had a dispute, during which Leslie was cut in the face with a knife.
Walters, who pleaded guilty with explanation, told Resident Magistrate Glen Brown that Leslie was the one who started the fracas. "Your honour, mi deh a mi stall and mi hear him a style mi, a call mi (names), yuh si mi," he said. "So mi go ask him if a mi him a call so and him run go fi a lass (machete) and start fling bare chop yu si mi, your honour. A jus because mi skill, your honour."
Resident Magistrate Glen Brown then set the September date for the matter to be concluded.
