Hang them all

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The police are always appealing to people to come forward with information about the day-to-day slaughtering of our own Jamaicans by wicked and heartless murderers - so that they may be able to track them down and bring them to justice.

The Government is also calling upon us to help the police in their fight against crime and to supply them with all the urgent and necessary information, so that they can conquer these vicious savages.

But why should we be willing to help the police in their fight against crime - or give them information when they are not hanging the murderers? Why should we, when the State is not bringing the criminals to the right kind of justice? Furthermore, they allow them to get bail and even get away free and go to terrorise and kill more people. Why? I may sound selfish and harsh, but these are important questions.

On the other hand, most of the time the police cannot catch the criminals, so if that criminal knows that 'John Brown' reported him to the police, he is going to kill 'John Brown' because the police may not catch him.

A convicted criminal or a serial murderer should be put away once and for all so that there will be no possibility of him escaping, coming back to haunt people.

Although people are afraid to give evidence, they would be more willing to take the risk, if they knew the killer would be 'taken care of'.

So, I am saying to the State: speed up the hanging process, stop giving alleged murderers bail and give witnesses the maximum security and you will see a difference.

I am, etc.,
