Robin Levy new JUTC chairman

Robin Levy, deputy general manager of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) and general manager of the JSE subsidiary, the Jamaica Central Securities Depository, has been appointed chairman of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company Limited (JUTC).

Cabinet approved

Levy's appointment was approved by the Cabinet yesterday. Three other members were also approved for addition to the board of the bus company. They are attorney Richard Bonner, civil engineer Michael Subratie and chartered accountant Ewart Gilzean.

The four replaced slain JUTC chairman, Douglas Chambers and three members who had demitted the board prior to Chambers death last June. All the other board members have retained their places.

Levy is a past president of the Rotary Club of Downtown Kingston and is a volunteer with a number of charitable and civic organisations.

Chambers was shot dead outside the JUTC's Spanish Town depot. He was reportedly attacked and shot several times after leaving a meeting. A man who police said was a suspect in the killing was shot dead in a police shoot-out last month.
