Rising to the occasion, Jordan McClure and David 'Hizzle' Hayle of Chimney Records have cemented themselves as the new 'it' producers in the business.

Having produced one of the smash hits for the year, Vybz Kartel's Trailer Load of Money and currently working on producing an album of the same name, the duo hopes to one day be 'stinkin rich.'

Trained pianists

With both being classically trained pianists, when long-time friend Hizzle approached Jordan about building rhythms it was history in the making.

"Hizzle would build riddims and I would write a bag of songs for them until I got interested in building riddims as well and asked him to teach me. Soon we were studying about equipment and how to start a studio which we did" Jordan told THE STAR.

The duo now operates a private studio in Mona where they produce a 'cross over' style of music, not strictly dancehall or reggae but mixed. They showed off their skills doing three rhythms for fellow producer Delly Ranx, namely the 'Gangsta Prayer' featuring the likes of Craig Dennis, Vybz Kartel and Sean Paul. They also produced 'Cherry Tree' and 'Shooter' which featured Wha Dem Feel Like by Kartel.

Under Chimney Records they have produced Soul Seeka with Bounty Killer, Einstein's Tell Dem, and the 'Heat Stroke' rhythm featuring Elephant Man, Kartel, Bramma, Munga, Voicemail and others. They also produced Romance for Serani and is now working with new act Bramma.

Kartel's 15 track album 'Trailer Load of Money', a joint venture with Addijah Records, will be the first album released by Chimney since its two-three year inception. The album features exclusives from the deejay and is set to be released in October.

For Jordan, although producing is hard work he says, "I just love my job, I don't think I'll have any problems working 24 hours a day, I'm a musician, I love mixing and voicing people and I'm always learning new things."

Jordan looks up to younger producers such as Stephen McGregor and DASECA as well as veterans such as Sly and Robbie, Stevie and Clevie, Dave Kelly and internationally, Timbaland and Pharrel.

Greatest challenge

As artistes he looks to Bob Marley, Sizzla, Bounty Killer, Serani and Delly Ranx for

inspiration. While it seems to be smooth sailing for the producers now, they once had to face the challenge of being unknown in entertainment.

"The greatest challenge is when you're starting out trying to get known and recognised and getting your stuff played. It's very hard to get your foot through the door especially when there are a million producers trying to buss," Jordan said.

"I'm not gonna be stopping, don't expect us to rise and fall like other people cause we're not going anywhere," Jordan pledged.
