Ellis in line for three-timer

Jimmie, Star Racing Writer

SHANE Ellis is set to boot home a three-timer at Caymanas Park tomorrow afternoon, including a double for trainer Percy Hussey MISS RUTH in the 1100-metre Keeling Memorial for two-year-olds and BORN TO DANCE in the eighth at 1000 metres straight.

MISS RUTH made an impressive debut at 600 metres straight in the summer, streaking home by two and a half lengths in 35.0, ahead of SUGAR'S IMAGE and return winner WESTERN REPORT.

The filly has impressed at exercise since, clocking 1:01.2 for five furlongs round last Friday morning and 1:109.2 for five and a half the previous Sunday.

MISS RUTH renews rivalry with the colt WESTERN REPORT, who got off the mark at 600 metres straight on July 12 after losing to the filly a month earlier.

Colts are expected to get stronger but MISS RUTH was so impressive, that she has to be preferred especially with her winning time, 35.0, being quicker than the colt's 35.4.

SPACEMAN should give Ellis his second winner in the 1000-metre straight fourth race, division one of a maiden three-year-old event. Trained by Anthony Nunes, SPACEMAN ran smack into the smart LAWS OF THE CAT two Saturdays ago and had to gracefully accept second in a smart 1:01.1 for five furlongs round.

Good speed

SPACEMAN had not run in 10 months and the pipe-opener should have done him a world of good. Returning against lesser lights, after working extremely well, 1:07.1 for five and a half earlier this month, he won't be beaten.

BORN TO DANCE should round off Ellis' three-timer in the eighth, division two of the fourth. Returning off a four-month lay-up, BORN TO DANCE has shown good speed in two starts to date.

Both were at 1000 metres straight, beaten six lengths by ABHIRAJ in a dead-wind time of 58.4. Hussey's runner is well drawn at post-position 12 and having looked good at exercise, 1:01.3 earlier this month.

Hussey had her gallop an easy 1:03.0 last Tuesday morning, behind a half-mile split of 48.0, suggesting she's ready and raring to make all.

Meanwhile, champion jockey Omar Walker should ease to his 100th winner for the season aboard MELINDAGATA in the 10th at 1200 metres before putting the icing on the cake with SOUND OF SPEED hunting back-to-back wins in the 1400-metre 11th event for $180,000 claimers.

Dane Nelson should also log two wins, UNCLE D & ME hunting a quick double in the sixth at 1200 metres and MINISTER OF JUSTICE in the ninth at 1100 metres after his loss to REGAL SELECTION at 1400 metres on August 6.

Other firm choices are TIMOTHY SCOTT in the second at 1000 metres round, QUEEN ELIZA in the fifth at 1400 metres and ALLEGRO in the seventh at 1700 metres.
