Ganja, motor vehicle seized by police

Police from the Half Way Tree CIB yesterday seized about 8 kilograms (about 16 pounds) of marijuana and two motor vehicles during a raid at a premises along Beechwood Avenue, Kingston 10.

The raid, which was carried out about 11:30 a.m., was conducted at an abandoned building located at 50 Beechwood Avenue.

THE STAR was told that marijuana, weighing seven and eight kilograms (14 to 16 pounds), was found stuffed in garbage bags inside the building. Two vehicles, which were seized but later identified, are being checking to ascertain if they were involved in any illegal activities, were also seized.

The building, THE STAR was told, appears to be a central spot where stolen vehicles are stored and later scrapped. Several scrapped cars, which were unaccounted for, were also seen at the premises. No one was arrested in connection with the seizures.

The Half Way Tree CIB is carrying out further investigations.
