The Manchester police have charged a 33-year-old man for the death of a 58-year-old farmer who was killed in the Mandeville police lock-up.
Charged with murder is Kenroy Tomlinson of New Port in Manchester. He was charged with murder last week after the death of Harold 'Zan' Graham, of Royal Flat in the parish.
Police say Graham was found lying motionless in his cell about 7 a.m. on August 13, during a routine check. It is reported that he was seen with blood coming from his head. He was rushed to the nearby Mandeville Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Following investigations, Tomlinson was charged with the murder.
THE STAR learnt that Graham went to court last month on an assault charge and was remanded for psychiatric treatment.
It is also understood that Graham's relatives are of the view that what he did was a regular occurrence in his community, as persons who owed him money are always unwilling to pay him. This, they contend, has resulted in him smashing a few windows when he gets upset and this has been going on over a few years.
