Calvin Martin coach of the National Basketball League leading Urban Knights is determined to guard against complacency, having seeing his team tuck 13 straight victories, including the mid-season final, under their belt.

Having achieved such a feat, many teams may be tempted to feel a certain level of invincibility, Martin will have none of it. Wary of overconfidence the coach and members of his technical team are doing 'creative' things to keep the squad focused.

"It is very difficult to guard against complacency, you have to be creative in how you manage them (Knights) and how you construct the training, you have to keep challenging them to keep them focused," he said.

On Tuesday, the Knights improved to a perfect 13-0 record, including a 2-0 start to the second round, with a 80-64 win over the Port Royal Bulls.

Good support

Fernando Young led the Knights with 18 points, while, Omar Barnes and Andy Smith scored 11 points each. The Bulls' Paul Oliphant had a game high 23 points, and received good support from Damion Young 16, and captain Damion Wade 14, but their efforts were not enough.

For Bulls coach, Oneil Williams it is his team's third consecutive loss to the defending champs. The question for them becomes, "How do the Bulls beat the Knights?". Coach Williams gave a simple answer, 'Unity'. He pointed out that his rookie team with a mixture of youth and veteran players aren't gelling as quickly as he would like and this continues to hurt their performance.

"We had a lead and the players started to quarrel, and that cost us the game," a concerned Williams said.

In the first game of the double-header, at the same venue, Runnin' Rebels blew out the Tivoli Wizards 115-66. Linford Jones had a game-high 29 points for the Rebels, while, Anthony Farquharson led Wizards with 28 points.
