A September 15 mention date was yesterday set in the case against a shopkeeper accused of stealing $2,000 and a handbag from a customer, when both parties showed up at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The allegations in that case are that the complainant went to a shop operated by Floyd Morrison to purchase a beer.
The complainant opted to pay for the beer with a $1,000 note, at which point the shopkeeper grabbed her purse, which had another $1,000 bill inside, in addition to the one she was paying for the beer with, and made off to his house, locking himself inside.
The accused man gave a different story, stating that he and the complainant were friends and he had not stolen anything from her.
Resident Magistrate Glen Brown ruled that the matter come back before the court on September 15.
