Known for his many dance songs and for increasing the popularity of dance moves, STAR of The Month, Elephant Man also believes he is a good dancer.
"Yeah man, mi a good dancer from we a grow up down a Seaview (Gardens). We used to love dance and hol' a vibe. When you a do music yuh haffi can move cause dat come wid di music," said Elephant Man.
He has been creating songs to complement many dance moves in the dancehall since 2000. Pon De River, Signal De Plane, Log On, Online and Higher Level are among the first set of dance songs he created. After becoming friends with dancer Bogle, he did Willie Bounce.
Recently, Elephant Man has been creating waves with his other dance songs like Nuh Linga, Gully Creepa, Sweep and Dip Again.
"I am bringing back a happiness in the dancehall. It's not just dancing, but happiness. That's why wi bring back a gimmick thing to it like di Sweep, Nuh Linga and Gully Creepa," Elephant Man told The STAR.
He says dance songs are appropriate for the summer because students are on vacation and are attending parties.
Elephant Man says he admires dancers like Bogle, Ding Dong, Ravers Clavers, Sample Six Crew, Shelly Belly, Blaze, Tornado, Mad Michelle and First Class Dancers.
It is from most of these dancers that he gets the inspiration for the dance songs. After seeing the dances at parties, he creates the dances. However, he says he will not do songs for dances that most people cannot do as he refuses to "clown out the people".
While these songs have brought Elephant Man tremendous success, he believes his songs with other themes bring him just as much success. From the 'gangster' songs he gets many dub-plates; and from the 'culture' ones he wins many Rastafarian and older fans.
