Children's demise ruled 'sudden death'

Dwight Nelson, Star Writer

The May Pen police have ruled out murder as the possible cause of the death of the two siblings found dead in the trunk of a 2001 Daewoo motor car at their home in Bushy Park Clarendon on August 8.

The death of Treco Lewin, eight, and his sister Lautavia, five, is being treated as a case of sudden death.

This came after a post-mortem, conducted by government pathologist Dr Charles Brennan at the Johnson and Son funeral home in Clarendon, last Friday, revealed the children died from suffocation.

Police have reported that about 10:30 a.m., the children were left home unsupervised by family members. On return of their grandmother at 2 p.m., the children could not be found.

Other family members were summoned and a report was made to the May Pen police. A search was carried out and the bodies of the two were found shortly before 8 p.m. in the trunk of a car in the yard. They were removed and taken to the May Pen Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
