Rastaman apologises to wife in court

Gilbert Morgan's apology to his wife Marilyn in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday was enough to spare him a jail sentence.

Morgan was accused of assaulting his wife, after they got into an argument at their home. The two are Rastafarian.

While Gilbert only went as far as to say his wife was upset that he had the visitors over, Marilyn went into further details. She told RM Glen Brown that she had come home for a break from a convention she was visiting at a nearby church when she discovered her husband's 'visitors' having sex in the house on her bed. She said her robust disapproval of the act led to a fight between her and her husband.

Gilbert, however, said that the bed was a 'visitor's bed' located in the visitor's room of the house.

RM Brown gave Gilbert a stern warning, telling him that the only reason he was being let off the hook this easy was because the couple's 12-year-old daughter was not at home to witness the fight. Gilbert then apologised to his wife before the courts and both were allowed to leave.
