Bail was set at $300,000 for David Malcolm, 27, when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
He is charged with possession of, trafficking, conspiracy to export and dealing in ganja.
Allegations are that the police tracked four vehicles they suspected of carrying out illicit activities from Sandy Bay, Clarendon, on the day of the incident before trying to apprehended the drivers of the vehicles in Kingston. Three allegedly eluded the lawmen while the fourth crashed and was cornered.
It is further alleged that the car driven by the accused was searched and a large amount of compressed vegetable matter, resembling ganja, was found inside. He was subsequently arrested and slapped with the charges. The matter is to be mentioned on September 13.
