Flames hunt seventh win
Portmore Flames go in search of their seventh win of the season when they take on another Portmore side, Link-up All Stars, in the opening game of a double-header of the KFC-sponsored National Basketball League (NBL) at the National Stadium Courts tomorrow, tip off time 5 p.m.
In the second game of the evening at 6:45 p.m., Blazing Panthers take on defending champions Urban Knights in a repeat of last year's final. The Knights are unbeaten in 12 games, including their victory over Port Royal Bulls in the mid-season final.
Flames have a decent 6-6 record, while Link-Up is second to last with a 1-10 record. Portmore will go into this match as favourites. However, being a Portmore derby, Link-up will be gunning for the upset as bragging rights and pride are on the line.
Meanwhile, Flames started the second round on a losing note going down 65-54 St Georges Slayers. Kali McCarthy led Slayers with 17 points, while Rohan Brown scored 14 points and Michael Jackson added 10. Kenardo Smith was Flames' leading scorer with 17 points, while Gary Reid, Ryan Peddlar and Phillip Reid had 10 points apiece.
