Annkara Panton was fined $15,000 for biting two police constables when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
The accused woman was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, resisting the police and perverting the course of justice.
Allegations are that the police went to a location in Greenwich Farm, St Andrew, where they were trying to arrest the accused woman's brother, who was accused of operating an illegal 'gas station' when residents in the area tried to prevent the arrest.
It is alleged that a melée developed during which Panton bit two police constables, one a female, on their fingers.
Arrest her brother
Panton denied the allegation however, saying that it was the police who came across as offensive initially. She told the court that the police were trying to arrest her brother when her mother went to enquire why he was being arrested.
She told the court that the woman constable pushed her mother away and then attempted to do the same to her after she confronted her about her actions. She said a fracas then ensued.
RM Glen Brown fined Panton $15,000 for the assault charge and admonished and discharged her on the others.
