Steve Smith, a 21-year-old resident of Flankers, was remanded Tuesday on charges of malicious destruction of property and assault with intent to rape and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is booked to return to court on August 20.

Demanded sex

Allegations against Smith are that on July 6, he kicked off the door to the complainant's home and demanded sex. Smith, who was allegedly armed with a gun and a knife held down the complainant on a bed and slapped her to the face.

The complainant managed to escape and made a report to the police. Smith was arrested four days later.
