Mavado's 'Real Killa' buss

Mavado - Contributed

In this weekly Muss Buss Caan Buss song review feature, three musical minds with different tastes will analyse each song and will grade it on vocal ability, lyrics, musical arrangement and appeal. Songs that make the grade will be dubbed 'Mus Buss', while songs that flop they will be dumped in the 'Caan Buss' bin.

The three reviewers welcome feedback from the artistes and the public about the column. Send your comments to bussdem@hotmail.com or mail in your songs to 'Muss Buss' at the Gleaner Company, 7 North Street, Kingston. This week the muss buss/cyaan buss team will be reviewing Mavado's Real Killa (No Chorus).

Witch: "Mi haffi speak fuss, dis riddim maaddd! Instant hit! Di genius as usual, wha mi love bout him is dat him riddim dem nuh stay di same it evolves during di song, mi hear a little haunted/alien vibe den it change. Dis is di fuss Mavado song mi instantly like right off di bat."

Stunner: "It sound like a freestyle di lyrics him a spin, it sound madd though."

Lady Boo: "A Mavado and it's graphic, I hear a lot of variations. But di line 'one bag a lipping like lipstick war', mi like it, it's kinda cool."

Stunner: "Mi hear betta lyrics from Mavado, but di riddim pick up where him slack off."

Witch: "Boy mi usually don't like Mavado just so, but in a way dis song show off him range, his deejay style, his freestyling and a likkle singing. Mi love how him big up di two producers him work wid most - Stephen and DASECA, even though is a Stephen riddim it shows some unity."

Lady Boo: "Dats why mi did tink seh a DASECA cause him big up both of dem. But mi nah lie mi rate di riddim, it's hot. It have a powerful, horror movie feel. It kinda appropriate cause him a sing bout death anyway."

Stunner: "Di riddim cross, it a happen. No chorus."

Lady Boo: "It really nuh have no chorus?"

Witch: "Di 'real killa part' sound like a chorus still, so wha him a talk bout no chorus?"

Stunner: "Di 'real killa' part nuh really sound like a chorus still."

Lady Boo: "Di fact seh it don't have a chorus really mek it harder fi people fi catch it, cause mi caan catch it."

Stunner: "Watch and see, yuh have some man who will hear it one time and catch it."

Witch: "Di concept of 'no chorus' bad still, unique so people don't have the hook to catch unto and is like Mavado a seh he's so bad, he's the real 'McKoy' so him nuh need a chorus... he's that darn good. But is like di song violent still but mi so desensitised to him and his violence mi nuh even a blink."

Stunner: "It's Mavado, a dat wi know him fah, it's nuting. "

Witch: "So wha yuh seh it buss?"

Stunner: "Gully God, Big Ship sailing, muss buss."

Lady Boo: "Honestly if So Special can buss and buss so big wid such poor lyrics as far as I'm concerned, dis can more dan buss."

Witch: "Can yuh imagine if wi did get So Special fuss? Wi woulda knock it down and look like fool."

Lady Boo: "If."

Witch: "Dis is one of di fuss songs mi hear and seh it instant, it a go mash up di place. Dis Day Rave riddim alone will mash up di place, mi caaan wait fi hear di odda songs."
